Week 5 Player of the Week: Roswell’s Trey Smith

Roswell's Trey Smith is joined by coach Chris Prewett for the presentation of GHSF Daily's Player of the Week award.

Roswell was tasked this season with replacing a two-year starting quarterback who threw for more than 5,500 yards and rushed for more than 1,000 with 73 total touchdowns in his career.

That was K.J. Smith. Now meet Trey Smith. There’s no family relation, but there was a strong resemblance Friday night, when Trey passed for 249 yards, rushed for 162 and had a hand in five touchdowns in a 42-35 victory over Westlake.

Smith scored on a 64-yard run for the game-winner late in the fourth quarter.

“They’re not related, but they were super close when they were both here,” Roswell coach Chris Prewett said of his new and old quarterbacks. “Trey has been in our program for as long as I can remember. He was an incredible player in our Junior Hornets program. Trey has been running our offense at the JV level for the last two seasons. He has complete command of our offense.”

Trey Smith is GHSF Daily’s Player of the Week. The award is sponsored by Sports Turf.
