Week 8 Student-Athlete of the Week: Central of Carrollton’s Jonaz Walton

Jonaz Walton, a 5-foot-9, 200-pound junior running back at Central of Carrollton, is the scoutSMART Student-Athlete of the Week. Walton, who has a 4.0 GPA, has rushed for 857 yards and 10 touchdowns on 116 carries through his team’s first seven games. He has multiple Division I offers, including those from Alabama, Georgia, Ohio State and Tennessee. "Jonaz exemplifies everything it means to be a ‘student-athlete’,” Central head coach Umbrah Brown said. “I don't know if I've coached a kid who works harder in the classroom as Jonaz. The fact that he is also one of the best running backs in the state is a bonus. On top of all of that, he is a great teammate and very humble. You wouldn't know he has 30-plus Division I offers if you saw him walking the hallways. It's a true testament to his character.”
