Week 10 Player of the Week: Hillgrove’s Jaiden Moore
Sophomore RB Jaiden Moore, described by Hillgrove coach Justin DeShon as a second- or third-teamer getting extra playing time because of an injury, made the most of his moment in a rivalry game Friday night.
Moore rushed for 255 yards and scored on runs of 97, 51 and 67 yards in a 30-23 victory over crosstown rival McEachern. He also caught a 34-yard pass to keep alive a drive that ended with a 20-yard field goal that put the Hawks ahead for good at 17-16 with 4:36 to play in the third quarter.
“Jaiden’s kind of been our No. 2 or No. 3 back all season,” DeShon said. “He’s a young sophomore with tons of potential. Caleb [Walters] came up with an ankle injury against Campbell last week, and we had a lot of confidence in Jaiden. We knew he had some spurt, and some things worked out tonight, and he got to showcase his talents.”
Hillgrove, a 2-8 team last year, is 8-0 for the first time since 2018. The Hawks are guaranteed a home playoff game for the first time since 2018, And a win this week against Harrison will give them their first region title since 2018.
Moore is GHSF Daily’s Player of the Week. The award is sponsored by Sports Turf.
