Week 10 Team of the Week: Cartersville
Call it reloading. Say that tradition doesn’t graduate. The old clichés apply to Cartersville, a team that graduated all eight of its first-team all-region players and returned only five starters from last year’s state semifinal team.
The Purple Hurricanes are 9-0, ranked No. 2 in Class 5A, and a victory from their ninth region championship in 11 years.
Cartersville put itself in this position last week with a 19-14 victory over Cedartown in a game between top-five teams with 8-0 records.
Cartersville head coach Conor Foster and the Purple Hurricanes’ seniors were joined by George Jones of BSN Sports for the presentation of GHSF Daily’s Team of the Week award after their Week 10 victory over Cedartown.
Cartersville coach Conor Foster credits those players who waited their turn.
“This team is a reflection of a lot of program players that love their team,” Foster said. “They stuck it out and were eager for their moment, and they’ve made the most of it. It’s a credit to our guys for staying the course.”
Cartersville is GHSF Daily’s Team of the Week. The award is sponsored by BSN Sports and Georgia Construction Careers.
